Having the sauna in the garden is a real event. That little walk down the path in the cold before the heat hits is the best part. We use it all year.

Tom & Laura Barrel 210

Stunning to look at and beautifully warm inside. It has completely transformed the bottom of our garden.

Priya S. Cube 210

Solid, well insulated and holds the heat even on cold winter nights. Worth every penny.

FAQs

Your choice. Every outdoor sauna can be assembled yourself on a prepared base, or your Hekla stockist can build it for you. Ask them when you order. You organize the electrician either way.
Flat, level, solid and permanent. A concrete slab is ideal, and reinforced paving on a proper sub-base works. Grass, gravel and soil do not. An uneven base is the most common reason a build gets delayed, and it can affect the warranty.
For an electric heater, yes, an outdoor-rated supply fitted by a qualified electrician. The Cube 210 and 250 and both barrels can take the Harvia Linear 18 wood-burning stove instead, which needs no power at all.
Barrel for the classic shape and the quickest heat. Cube for the glass front and a modern look. Cabin for straight lines and a black exterior that never needs painting. All three are built from heat treated timber or composite that shrugs off the weather in your area.
Yes, and winter is the best of it. Heat-up time barely changes in the cold and the walk back through crisp air is part of the ritual. Nothing needs draining or covering.
A clear route at least three feet wide with nothing overhead such as branches or cables, and three feet of clear space around the footprint. Our buying guide lists the footprint of every model.
Less than most people expect. It depends on your heater's power and your electricity rate. A 6kW heater uses at most 6kWh in a full hour, and most sessions are shorter than that. A wood-burning stove costs only what you spend on logs. Our running cost guide shows how to work it out for your model.
Where it lives and what it needs. An outdoor sauna is a building in its own right, with a weather-ready shell. It needs a solid base and, for an electric heater, an outdoor-rated electrical supply. An indoor sauna fits into a room in the house, and our compact infrared models plug into a standard outlet.
Start with 8 to 10 minutes and build up to 15 or 20 as you get used to the heat. Cool off between rounds. Two or three rounds makes a good session, and two to four sessions a week is common. Drink plenty of water and get out if you feel unwell. If you have a heart condition or are pregnant, check with your doctor first.
Every Hekla sauna has a 3 year warranty, and the Harvia heater has its own 3 year warranty. Register your sauna on our website once it's built. The warranty is in addition to your legal rights, not a replacement for them.
